Lori improved digestion, sugar cravings, and anxiety on a carnivore diet

Lori began implementing a carnivore diet eight months ago, desperate to find a solution to several gastrointestinal problems she was experiencing. As a busy mom, she found herself affected by generalized anxiety disorder, and was constantly worrying about her future and her health.

Though she was following a ketogenic diet and exercised regularly, Lori suffered from chronic constipation, painful gas, bloating, and indigestion. “I was miserable!” she shares with Revero coach Tracy. “My husband started a carnivore diet several months before that resolved his eczema and regulated his bowel movements. He encouraged me to give it a try, but I resisted his advice for several weeks.”

Lori says she just couldn’t wrap her head around not eating vegetables. “I just kept thinking, ‘I have been eating healthy and exercising for the last two years, why do I feel so bad?’ Thank God, I eventually came around and decided I had had enough!” Even though she had already pared down her food list quite a bit, she believed she had no other option but to eliminate all foods from her diet aside from animal products. “My bowel movements became less frequent, but I was no longer constipated!” she recalls. “No more laxatives, no more suppositories. I felt so much better!”

This diet has given me freedom beyond what I could ever imagine! It not only healed my gut, but also improved my mental health and eliminated my sugar cravings and stress eating.” Lori notes a key difference between her results on a ketogenic diet and her success on a carnivore diet. “Once I cut out sugar and artificial sweeteners, that really helped. I feel as though my taste buds have reset and I don’t even want the sugar now.”

Animal-based nutrition along with routine exercise has allowed Lori to wean off her prescription medications for anxiety, depression, and migraines. “I’ve taken these meds since I was a teen, and the side effects are horrible. I suffered from insomnia, decreased libido, weight gain, and grogginess. Being off all medication has changed my life!” She’s also noticed increases in mental clarity, energy, and better performance at the gym. Even though she started out generally healthy and fit, Lori has lost excess body fat and gained even more muscle.

Lori has the joy of sharing her success with her husband. “We have a better relationship because we support each other as we live an animal-based lifestyle.” They enjoy working out together and enjoying carnivore meals together along with their two sons, ages 6 and 16. She and her family occasionally enjoy carnivore treats such as homemade whipped cream, and no one seems to miss the sugar.

“This way of life is not widely accepted and not always easy,” Lori notes. “I am so grateful I found the Carnivore.Diet community, and I hope my story can help someone else who is struggling in the same way. This platform provides valuable info, resources, support, and connection with other like-minded carnivores. I have a place to call home!
