Parveen improved metabolic, thyroid, and mental health on a Carnivore diet

Meet Parveen, one of Carnivore.Diet’s coaches. Her journey started years ago when she had developed a leaky gut and was getting severe migraines, joint pain, and more. “I was reacting to all kinds of food; I had all kinds of environmental allergies to the point where I actually had to carry an EpiPen.”

She didn’t find any help from the medical community either, saying “the medical community just really failed me at every attempt where I tried to see a doctor, and they just really couldn’t figure things out for me because they were treating isolated symptoms so I just wasn’t getting any results.”

Parveen sought answers on her own and discovered leaky gut and intestinal permeability. She began to work on changing her diet to help heal that, eating Paleo—mostly meat, bone broth, but also a lot of vegetables. This continued for about five years, until problems arose: “Then my metabolic numbers started to decline again. I was also hypothyroid at that time with Hashimoto’s” but she had refused taking medications, looking instead for natural solutions.

One of her friends, Matthew, kept sending her Dr. Shawn Baker videos. Eventually she started listening to them. At about that time, Parveen discovered that she had high oxalate levels that could also affect her thyroid. Shawn Baker had an interview with Sally Norton, and Parveen wondered, “Is it possible that I’m really riddled with oxalates? It was quite possible that this was the source of all my problems, so I decided to try the carnivore diet.”

At first, she just ate a lot of chicken, bacon, and eggs. Then she began to eat a lot of ground beef and steaks, and chicken didn’t seem very good in comparison. “I would make my own burgers. I was doing a lot of steaks and shredded meat in the slow cooker. I’m a teacher, so it was a little bit hard for me at work. What do I pack for lunch?” She ended up using a thermos, and heating up whatever she had prepared the night before.

Parveen finds the diet is very convenient, too. “It’s really easy, the food planning is minimal, I order a lot of my cuts for meat online and there’s a farm near me, so I’ll go there as well. Simplicity, is that not just the best?”

She still experiences breakouts on her legs as her body periodically goes through a cycle of dumping oxalates. “I get a lot of itchy bumps so I was breaking out in a rash over my legs; I’ve been a carnivore for over a year and a half and I’m still getting these dumping periods.”

Her moods have improved too: “Once I was in ketosis I had a switch you know, my brain just like, I was so happy. Just really like, good, I wake up feeling great, I have so much energy, and the mental stamina I have today is really amazing. I can just keep going and going physically and mentally, so that’s been a real plus for me!”

Results are not typical. All viewers of this content, especially those taking prescription or over-the-counter medications, should consult their physicians before beginning any nutrition, supplement or lifestyle program.
