Allison’s Journey to Weight Loss and Healing

Allison sought a way to manage her weight and simplify her busy life. She successfully lost weight on a ketogenic diet, but transitioning to carnivore brought her even better results. Over the last year, she has completely healed from eczema and lost nearly 100 pounds!


Allison worked long hours in the field of corporate retail. “I had a very stressful job that required me to be out of the home a lot,” she shares. “Everything became all about convenience. I was not mindful of when or what I was eating, and I was terribly tired all the time.” She required frequent afternoon naps resulting in even later nights. “My whole quality of life, including my nutrition, was very poor. I had eczema, anxiety, and depression, which were a lot to deal with.”


Allison had initial success switching to a ketogenic diet and lost 60 pounds. “I was eating a lot of fun keto treats, and I started to slip backward. I began to feel the way I was before, so I looked for a way to eliminate that.” Allison found Dr. Shawn Baker and Mikhaila Peterson’s meat-based diet success stories on social media and decided she would try it for 30 days. “I just focused in on what they were doing and why they were doing it. That was everything I needed to get started!”


Challenging Transition to Carnivore

The transition to carnivore from a ketogenic diet had some challenges for Allison, but she quickly overcame them. “My skin actually got worse before it got better,” she notes. She believes this was due to oxalate dumping, a phenomenon that occurs in some people when plants and their stored antinutrients are eliminated from the body. “My eczema has done a complete 180! The skin on my face and neck is no longer dry, and I can wear makeup again.”


Benefits of a Meat-Based Diet

Allison lost an additional 40 pounds on a carnivore diet (for a total of almost 100 pounds lost). At one point, she was concerned about being underweight. Adding fattier cuts of meat helped her reach a healthy weight that she’s maintained with a meat-based diet and fasting. Her nails are longer and stronger, and her hair “grows like a weed.”


Maintaining a Carnivore Lifestyle

Maintaining a carnivore lifestyle is a breeze for Allison, and she’s had no trouble sticking to it. She eats one meal a day at 5 PM and has plenty of energy for all she needs to accomplish. This approach works exceptionally well when she is on the road or has a busy week at work.


Allison’s main meal is typically a ground beef bowl with egg and cheese. “I enjoy it so much, and the way it makes me feel is incredible!” she shares. “I keep it really simple.” Allison’s also come a long way in the kitchen, learning new ways to cook and prepare meat.


Simple Advice for Considering Carnivore Diet

Since she has healed from lower back pain and has zero bloating or inflammation, Allison can enjoy long nature walks with her three German Shepherds. She’s improved her body composition and cholesterol numbers, too. Her advice is simple: “Don’t be afraid of it! There are different ways to approach carnivore; you’ll feel better if you stick with it!”
