Jacob improves mentally on a carnivore diet

Jacob shares how he has improved his weight and mental health since starting a carnivore diet one month ago. He says he’s grateful to Dr. Shawn Baker for helping with his health progression by getting the word out on the many benefits of a meat-based diet.

“Today is the 30-day mark since I started a carnivore diet, and I couldn’t be more impressed!” Jacob shares. Based on his fantastic results so far, Jacob plans to continue on the diet “for the foreseeable future.”

Jacob is 28 years old and started his journey weighing 221 pounds at 6’4”. He’s lost 15 pounds in his first four weeks, bringing him down to 206 pounds. Surprisingly, Jacob was able to lose this weight without having to spend hours in the gym. “I’ve just been doing minor exercise such as walking and weights a few times a week.”

With any dietary change, transitional issues are common and affect everyone differently. Since low-carb and zero-carb diets cause the body to switch its fuel source from carbohydrates to fat, people can expect mild symptoms that usually resolve within the first few weeks.

For Jacob, his transitional issues included some headaches and loose stools. Most people find increasing their intake of key electrolytes (salt, magnesium, and potassium) will alleviate these minor symptoms. “After four days, all of my transitional symptoms cleared up, and I’ve had no issues since then.”

Jacob reports several “noticeable changes” since he started a carnivore diet last month. While certain health conditions may take longer to improve, many new carnivore notice improvements as soon as the first week.

He improved his sleep quality soon after making the switch. “I feel more rested and less anxious when I wake up.” Zero-carb diets are a natural way to regulate sleep patterns. The carnivore diet reduces inflammation and supports the production of melatonin, a key hormone that drives sleep and wake patterns.

As a result of better sleep, Jacob noticed he felt better during the day as well. “I noticed my energy levels have improved and are sustained throughout the day.” With more energy, Jacob is able to thrive on just one or two meals per day, a common practice among low-carb eaters called intermittent fasting.

Since eliminating plant foods from his diet, Jacob enjoys “improved mental capacity.” He’s noticed his mood has stabilized, and he has experienced less brain fog since cutting out carbohydrates.

Now that Jacob has reduced inflammation in his body, his skin condition has significantly improved. He no longer has acne breakouts, and his pimples have gone away, which could also be a result of having better-balanced hormones.

Though he is still relatively new to the carnivore community, Jacob realizes the importance of having support and encouragement from others who are on a similar path. Carnivore.Diet members know the importance of having the support of Certified Carnivore Coaches and peers. “Thank you, Dr. Baker, for the positive influence you’ve had on my life, and thank you to the Carnivore.Diet community for sharing your stories as well!”
