Meet Bella – she is a musician and a serious carnivore advocate with a successful Youtube channel where she is “Steak and Butter Gal.” Her piano playing is amazing!
Before becoming a carnivore, she says “I was a high carb low fat vegan for six years, and I started having a lot of negative symptoms by even the second year of veganism. By her sixth vegan year, some of her symptoms were brain-based, as she explains: “I was just feeling my lowest in health and mood and mental clarity and focus in overall happiness, and I was having dreams about wanting to eat eggs and meat.”
While browsing on Youtube, she came across Joe Rogan’s podcasts about his carnivore diet. “Then I came across Frank Tufano’s Youtube channel as well as Health Coach Kate, so I just binge-watched all these Youtube videos, and I was really convinced that a carnivore diet is probably something I should try.”
After six years on a vegan diet, Bella’s system required some time and discomfort to adapt to her Carnivore diet. “I was so used to zero fat and such high carb, when I suddenly shifted to eggs and fatty meat, my digestion was just crazy. Everything just went through me, and I couldn’t keep in the fats in my system so I had a lot of diarrhea. My stomach would just be rumbling all day long. I found what helped was lowering the fat and eating smaller meals. Not too much at one sitting.”
She lost some weight, “without going crazy in the gym.” Bella now has absolutely no bloating, and enjoys eating delicious food to satiety.
Bella eats mostly steak and butter every day (as the name of her Youtube channel suggests!) and occasionally enjoys salmon or bone broth. She did two or three meals a day for the first year, but now usually eats one meal a day.
Bella really enjoys the elevated brain function that results from carnivore: “the mental clarity-as a musician it’s so important, to have to sit down and practice hours a day, and I can do that easily when I’m fasted. I can look forward to a great meal at the end of the day. It’s really a life hack to save so much time, and it gives me a lot of freedom.”
She finds her confidence is boosted by her diet: “The biggest after-effect is my confidence. It’s just the best I have ever felt in my whole life because I don’t obsess about the number on the scale anymore. I instead focus on things that actually matter, like my studies, and my music making. I really just enjoy life. I spend time with loved ones, friends, my boyfriend, and I just focus on being in the moment, and I really believe that diet supports your mental health and your emotional health to be able to do that. So I feel that’s the biggest benefit I have gained.”
