A Shocking Diagnosis: The Wake-Up Call
Josh, 32, shares his incredible story of how he was able to reverse obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and peripheral neuropathy on a carnivore diet.
Josh’s health journey began at age 31. At 5’9”, he weighed 220 pounds, and ate a typical American diet of fast food, pizza, pasta, and other junk food. He consumed a six-pack of beer a day, but managed to avoid sugary foods and drinks.
The Power of Lifestyle Changes: Keto, Fasting, and Exercise
“I went to the doctor for the first time in my life complaining of chronic foot pain that had started a year earlier,” Josh recalls.
“The lab results from my doctor revealed that my triglycerides were close to 4,000, my total cholesterol was four times the normal range, and my blood pressure measured at stage 1 hypertension. Worst of all, my lab results revealed that I had type 2 diabetes with an a1c of 9.”
Josh was also diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy, which was the source of his chronic foot pain. “The shock of discovering that I had the health of an unhealthy sixty-year-old man in my early 30s was a blessing in disguise,” he explains. “I immediately made drastic changes in my lifestyle.
I quit drinking, adopted a meat-heavy ketogenic diet, started intermittent fasting, and began a moderate exercise regime consisting of walking short distances many times per day. My foot pain prevented me from running or jogging.”
Discovering the Carnivore Diet: A Desperate Solution
Three months later, Josh had lost 50 pounds, and his lab work showed that his lipids, blood pressure, a1c, and blood glucose were all in the normal range.
“I was thrilled with these results, but the foot pain from my neuropathy hadn’t gotten any better, and even seemed to be getting worse.” Josh also suffered from chronic fatigue which accompanied the foot pain.
“The pain and fatigue would be worse on some days and better on others, so I suspected what I was eating was having some effect on the condition.”
Josh’s diet consisted entirely of grilled meat, vegetables, and fats like coconut oil, olive oil, and butter. “At first. I tried decreasing my meat intake and increasing my vegetables, but the pain seemed to get worse,” he shares.
The Benefits of Going Carnivore: Pain Relief, Weight Loss, and Improved Health
After hearing about the carnivore diet, which he says defied everything he thought he knew about nutrition, Josh was desperate and decided to try it for a few weeks. “It was my understanding that neuropathy is an irreversible permanent condition.
But within a few days, the pain from my neuropathy had all but disappeared, along with my chronic fatigue and irritability!” Josh says he had never felt better in his life since “going carnivore.”
In the past three months on the carnivore diet, Josh has lost an additional 15 pounds (approaching a total loss of 70 pounds), and reports that 99% of his foot pain has been alleviated. “My energy, mental clarity, sexual function, and digestive health have never been better,” he reports.
“My blood pressure and blood glucose have further improved to ideal levels. I am healthier now than I have been at any point in my life. It was only eight months ago that I was a diabetic at high risk for heart disease.
A Lifelong Commitment: Staying on the Carnivore Diet
The carnivore diet has changed my life, and I will remain a carnivore for the rest of my life.”
