Cameron is 28 years old and says it’s been three years since he told himself, “As nutty as the carnivore diet sounds, I’m going to try it.”
Cameron’s Health Issues and Struggles with Different Diets
Cameron’s stomach issues started when he was 18 or 19. No matter what he ate, he’d have stomach pains and bloating. In college, Cameron started having joint problems and couldn’t build muscle. He worked out a lot and thought it was strange that he had constant joint pain and could not build strength.
He had a period of two years when he only slept 5 hours a night. “Everything just starts breaking down,” he explains. With so little sleep, he was exhausted all the time and couldn’t function at work or exercise. He pushed through this period, which he thinks made him worse.
“I couldn’t understand why everyone around me was carefree and my health just got worse no matter what I did.”
At age 18, when he started having stomach and joint issues, Cameron turned to nutrition to improve his health. He experimented with many diets, but his health just kept declining. He ate veggies, fruits, healthy spices, and low protein. He took probiotics and dozens of supplements. He tried plant extracts, aloe vera, fish oil, and coconut oil. All the supplements and plant extracts, he says, “failed him.”
He even tried veganism when he was 24 and in graduate school. He had no muscle mass and a lot of anxiety. He also developed depression. Because his health deteriorated, he stopped after a couple of months.
That was a “real low point,” Cameron says.
Discovering the Carnivore Diet
Searching for answers, Cameron came across Dr. Baker. He started watching Dr. Baker’s videos and researched the talking points referenced in his videos.
An all-meat diet seemed so “out there to me,” he says. But after learning more about it, he decided to try it.
Positive Effects of the Carnivore Diet on Cameron’s Health
After three weeks, Cameron slept a little better and didn’t hurt as much. Another three weeks and he felt much better—his stomach was calmer and he slept better. Today, Cameron’s issues have resolved. He sleeps 7 or 8 hours a night. His digestive issues improved, and his mood stabilized. He’s developed strength and muscle mass again. And he doesn’t take any supplements.
Cameron’s Current Carnivore Diet and Eating Habits
Cameron started his carnivore journey eating fish and chicken and added pork and beef over time. Currently, he eats mostly beef, pork, and sometimes lamb. He watches for sales at the grocery store.
Generally, Cameron eats two meals per day. For the last year and a half, he’s been eating mostly meat and coffee. Sometimes he’ll eat eggs, and he cooks with butter.
After his morning workout, Cameron has ground beef, bacon, sausage, or a combination—about ¾ to 1 pound. For dinner, he’ll cook a steak or some pork chops and typically eats another 1 ½ to 2 pounds.
Cameron’s Hope to Inspire Others for Better Health
Cameron says he now has a “general feeling of wellness” and hopes his story helps others find better health.
