David’s Journey: How the Carnivore Diet Helped Him Overcome IBS and Sciatic Pain

David is 30 years old and living in South Louisiana. He’s been following the carnivore diet for the past 7 months, and has experienced weight loss, muscle gains, better dental hygiene, and has eliminated his IBS and sciatic issues.

 

The Affordable and Accessible Nature of the Carnivore Diet

“The results of my experience have been incredible!” David shares. “I had a very poor diet going into it, everything was processed and was hardly taking in any whole foods at all.” David notes that he’s been able to follow an animal-based diet with foods that are “cheap and easy to access”. Contrary to what many critics will say, the carnivore diet does not need to include expensive cuts of meat or higher priced eggs and dairy items. It’s generally understood and accepted in the carnivore and low-carb communities that you should eat the best food that you can afford.

 

Carnivore-Friendly Fast Food Options for People on the Go

David’s is on the road a lot during the week for work, so he typically finds carnivore-friendly options for lunch at fast food restaurants. “In the morning, I eat 5 eggs with cheese and butter. For lunch, I’ll usually stop at Burger King and order patties with cheese on top. At night is when I have steak and meat meals.” David takes a less restrictive approach to his diet, and occasionally will include a sauce, mustard or spices to season his meat.

 

Building Muscle, Losing Fat: The Impact of the Carnivore Diet on David’s Body

Before starting the carnivore diet, David weighed 195 pounds, and has lost 30 pounds in the last seven months. For many years, David had struggled with gastrointestinal issues such as IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), and his family has a history of diverticulitis, which occurs when small, bulging pouches (diverticula) that develop in the digestive tract become inflamed or infected.

 

Following a meat-based diet, David has been able to reduce inflammation and avoid flare ups of these conditions. “After a few weeks, my GI symptoms completely disappeared! It’s something I had suffered with every day, so that was a huge improvement for me.” Another interesting improvement for David was with his dental hygiene. Since following the carnivore diet, he noticed significantly less plaque on his teeth and does not have inflammation in his gums.

 

Even without regular visits to the gym or a strenuous workout schedule, David has been able to build muscle while losing fat over the last seven months. “It was unbelievable how quickly I was able to gain muscle,” David recalls. Losing 30 pounds while on the diet has also allowed David to relieve sciatic pain and other back issues he had dealt with for years. “All the instability I had went away, and I was able to gain more rigidity and strength in my muscles.”

Socially, David has found it quite easy to stick to the carnivore diet, he finds most restaurants and parties he goes to offer some meat options. “The carnivore diet has really changed my life,” he says. “I’m only 7 months in, and I look forward to what a few years will do.”
