Bernardo is a police officer and says his diet before discovering the carnivore way of eating was very poor. He ate a lot of bread, pasta, rice, and other high-carbohydrate foods. Bernardo says he wasn’t sleeping well, felt very sluggish, and carried a bit more weight than he would have preferred.
With his job being so high-stress and demanding, Bernardo says he has to be on his A-game all the time, and he felt like his eating habits were holding him back. Bernardo also felt his energy levels were hindering him from being the best father possible to his two-year-old son. He wanted to make changes but need help figuring out where to start.
A friend suggested the carnivore diet. Bernardo says at first, he thought the carnivore diet sounded like another fad. However, soon he started researching the diet, reading success stories, and listening to Dr. Shawn Baker’s podcast. Bernardo said he heard many people sharing their success stories with the carnivore diet. Bernardo says he soon learned that carnivore isn’t “a fad diet, but rather a lifestyle.”
Bernardo says the first week on the carnivore diet was hard. Bernardo’s body was used to burning carbs for energy, and it took a few days of feeling overly sluggish and lethargic before he started feeling better. However, Bernardo says within a week, he felt night and day different. He had more energy than he had in years. He knew after a short time on the diet, he “wouldn’t be able to go back.”
Bernardo has now lost almost thirty pounds on the carnivore diet. He now weighs 167 pounds and has just eight percent body fat. Bernardo is almost thirty years old but says he feels like he is twenty-one.
Bernardo has even been able to get some of his fellow police officers on the carnivore diet. He describes one of his co-workers who is nearing the end of his career and is getting ready to retire. That co-worker told Bernardo he feels better at the end of his career as a carnivore diet follower than he did twenty-five years ago when he first became a police officer.
Bernardo says his diet today is simple, but he does like to mix it up sometimes. He usually eats two meals daily– one around eleven in the morning and the other around seven in the evening. Bernardo eats a lot of beef, eggs, bacon, pork, and cheese. He says he likes learning other various techniques to prepare his food from other carnivore diet followers. The techniques he has learned allow him to have more variety in his diet.
Bernardo advises anyone looking to start the carnivore way of eating to “be patient and give it time.” Now that he knows how good he can feel, Bernardo has zero plans to return to eating high-carb foods. Bernardo says he doesn’t have some naysayers in his life but fires back, “how can you question results?” Bernardo has the carnivore way of eating to thank for helping him excel at his job and restore his health.
