Landon changed his relationship with food on a carnivore diet

Landon struggled with his weight and wanted to set a better example for his wife and two sons. At 5’7”, he weighed 235 pounds and had over 35% body fat. “I was a walking heart attack!” he shares. “I knew I had to do something with my diet for my kids’ sake, not just for myself.”

For six months, Landon followed a ketogenic diet and dropped 65 pounds. Keeping his carbs below 10 grams per day, Landon cleared up most of his health issues, including exercise-induced asthma, headaches, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and brain fog. However, the temptation of keto sweets became a stumbling block for the self-described sugar and carb addict. Landon began searching for a better way to reduce cravings and resolve his digestive issues.

“The further I cut back on carbs and fiber, the better I felt,” Landon explains. He eventually learned about the carnivore diet from Dr. Shawn Baker and others on YouTube and felt it would be easy since he had already incorporated more meat into his diet. “When I made the switch to carnivore over the next few weeks, I found out that I had complete control over my appetite. Instead of living to eat, I was eating to live. Now, I only eat for the sole purpose of changing my body composition and for fuel.”

The shift away from emotional eating was the first sign that Landon had made the right choice. In addition to severing his unhealthy sugar and carb addiction, he found his overall mood was happier and steadier throughout the day. “I wake up every morning excited to start a new day,” he shares. “I know I’m going to progress toward my goals with carnivore, which has boosted my motivation and confidence.”

Landon’s family and friends have noticed his incredible transition, not just the 80 pounds total he’s lost. He feels more present at social gatherings and is more focused on conversations and connections with people than he is concerned about the food. While some people have expressed concerns about a meat-based diet, Landon is happy to share the truth about what he’s learned through his experience. “I am walking proof that it works! I feel much better now, and losing 80 pounds will certainly be healthier for me in the long run.”

Landon incorporates fasting into his carnivore lifestyle through OMAD (one meal a day) and a 40-hour fast once per week. His main meal is usually a ribeye steak or brisket with butter, eggs, and bacon. “Fasting resets my body for the week,” he says. “I also feel more self-aware while I’m fasting.”

Landon’s family has gotten closer throughout his journey, and his wife has lost 85 pounds. His children are asking great questions, and he is pleased they can learn about nutrition at a young age. As a coach, Landon looks forward to helping more people “take a leap of faith” and discover what a carnivore diet can do for them.
