John says even before he became a carnivore diet follower, he was into health and fitness. He describes eating a Standard American Diet but emphasizing protein, vegetables, and fruit. However, at just twenty-one years old, John was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease– a disease of the body characterized by inflammation in the intestines.

Johns says he had mild Crohn’s disease; fortunately, he didn’t experience many more severe symptoms usually associated with the disease. However, he was struggling with blood in his stool, constipation, and multiple bowel movements per day. John says for the first five years after his diagnosis with Crohn’s disease, he only followed what doctors told him to do; he didn’t question his medical treatment. He accepted his Crohn’s disease would be something he had to deal with for the rest of his life and that he might even need to have surgery because of it.

Then, about a year ago, John’s doctors put him on medication for his Crohn’s disease, which caused him to have a severe skin reaction. At that point, John decided he needed to do his research and better control his health. One day he was listening to the Joe Rogan podcast when he heard an interview with Jordan Peterson. John began learning all he could about the carnivore way of eating from the experts, including Jordan Peterson’s daughter Mikhaila.

John said it took six months to a year from the time he first heard about the carnivore diet to the time he tried it. He says during that period, he attempted the Medical Medium diet, which had him making celery juice, and following multiple steps. He also tried the Crohn’s remission diet, which included various probiotics and more measures. John says the diets felt sustainable for only a couple of weeks because they were so complicated and time-consuming.

Out of desperation, John finally tried the carnivore diet. John says the first thing he was drawn to with the diet was how simple it was. All he had to do was eat meat until he was full. John also saw fast improvements in his energy levels, and his bowel movements became much less frequent.

John has now been following the carnivore diet for approximately five months and says, as of the week of the recording, he has been declared Crohn’s-free by his doctors. John will no longer struggle with Crohn’s disease for the rest of his life, as he was told.

John says he enjoys meat and occasionally eggs but refrains from eating dairy. He does admit to cheating on his diet during the holidays and other special events but says it was relatively easy to jump back in. He says it is more about sustainability and believes in following the 80/20 rule for balance.

John is very grateful he stumbled across the carnivore lifestyle. He loves the simplicity and the life and energy it has given him. He says he is now off all medication and living a life doctors never thought he would have.
