Hello carnivores! My name is Jill and I am a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Functional Medicine Health Coach & Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I reside in Chicago and have a private coaching business called Jill Foos Wellness. I also host my podcast, Health Trip with Jill Foos, where I interview functional medicine doctors and practitioners about nutrition science, current modalities that support health issues and goals, and how to incorporate healthy lifestyle practices. I’m 54 years old and have been interested in health and wellness since I was 16 years old and competing in high level sports. Early on, I recognized that I didn’t feel optimal eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) and experimented with many dietary theories, from vegan to macrobiotic to paleo and keto, all the while never feeling my best.

I have five grown kids who suffered from IBS, ADHD, anxiety, depression, addiction and more. I used food as medicine and turned to a holistic, root cause approach to help support their health issues.

I suffered from nodules on my thyroid after the birth of my fourth child, which resulted in removing half of my gland and never feeling the same again. My ovaries also lost the ability to make testosterone after the birth of my fifth child and I was put on synthetic testosterone to help support my mood, zest for life, libido and hair growth. That made me feel even worse. I am also homozygous for the MTHFR SNP (genetic mutation) and carry the APOE-e4 allele, the Alzheimer’s gene, creating two serious obstacles when it comes to absorbing bio-available nutrients from my diet and maintaining brain health. I was not myself and I suffered with bouts of too much weight loss, fatigue, irritability, adult cystic acne, painful periods and depression. I slowly changed my diet, and through trial and error, I was able to find a better spectrum of nutrition that helped support my path back to health.

I entered the carnivore space three years ago after living a keto lifestyle for many years. The tracking of macros, the daily testing of my glucose and ketone levels and the addiction to keto desserts did not work for me. Although I do not push the carnivore diet on my clients, I  certainly found substantial relief in so many areas of my life. As a weight resistance training enthusiast for the last 35 years of my life, I was able to build more lean muscle mass, drop 6% body fat in 1 year and finally balance my thyroid, hormones and brain function. My sleep and libido rock as well. I am proof that menopause does not have to disrupt the flow of my life.
